BEINN AN TUIRC

CAMPBELTOWN, SCOTLAND

Named for the ‘Hill of the Wild Boar’, the highest point in Kintyre, Beinn an Tuirc Distillers Ltd has been producing award-winning, sustainably distilled craft gin since 2017.

Beinn an Tuirc Distillers Ltd was established at Torrisdale Castle Estate in 2016 by brothers Niall and Kenny Macalister Hall and Niall’s wife Emma.

From the outset they aimed to keep sustainability at the heart of the business and are proud that our gin still is powered by their own hydro electricity, keeping our carbon emissions low.  They source their water from the eponymous hill,  ‘Beinn an Tuirc’  which translates from gaelic as ‘The Hill of the Wild Boar’ and is the highest point in Kintyre, located above the distillery building. They also have a dedicated tree plantation near the distillery where they plant oak trees to offset any carbon used in our processes and distribution.  Community is a key strand of what they do and they have pledged to support local enterprises and start-ups when we are in a position to do so. They currently sponsor the Carradale Music Festival and recently the Mull of Kintyre Virtual Music Festival.

We pride ourselves on our environmental sustainability and also our ethical and social responsibilities. We recycle and re-use as much as possible throughout our processes. We collect and re-use our condensing water, which often finds its way into a hot tub for guests to enjoy. Our packaging materials use as much.
